Thanks Neil and Mohib, both for weighing in and for your kind remarks about my work.

I'm leaning toward the color version myself. However, I think that the monochrome version lost a little something during the conversion to a web-size sRGB image. I may make up a couple of prints today to compare the images in tangible form.

In this case, I prefer the color version as well. IMO the B&W version doesn't have strong whites to provide the contrast. Again, strictly personal preference.

I love your work. Great job!

Hi Andrew

I prefer the color photo over the B&W. That's a personal choice, not a quality choice. I've always leaned toward color photos. Your composition, as usual, is great.

Hi Neil,

Thanks! I'm absolutely thrilled about the Editor's Choice selection. The blastoff and backlit fog were something to behold. It easily worth the many hours (over four mornings) that I spent standing in the dark, in sub-zero temperatures, waiting. I like the photo so much that I just printed a nice 11x16.5 for my office.

I'm delighted that you enjoy my work. Ultimately, that's what its all about.

Hi Andrew

Congratulations on your "Blastoff" (well deserved) 500px.com's Editors Choice award. Your timing was perfect. It must have been a wonmderful experience just to be there and see them, let alone take a photograph of them. As a learning tool, I look at a number of Professional photographers web sites and I consider your work to be one of the best, if not the best. In my opinion, many of the Pro's "Over Photoshop" thier work to the point of looking more like a painting rather than a photograph.

I really enjoy your e-mail's and web site.

Congrad's again.

Mike Moats has a wonderful blog where he goes over what nature images sell and what doesn't sell, and why. Definitely worth a look if you're looking to get into selling images at art shows. He has a few ebooks about that business too.

I have a fondness for animal portraits as well, love to capture that unique personality if I can. I need to get out shooting some time soon; it's been a while.

Hi Andrew

I to like the bottom photo best. Both are good but, I belive the horzontal framing adds more balance to the photo. I even like the muddy shoreline. To me it has a positive effect.
